Who and what this covers
Neat operates the Neat note-taking app and this website. For privacy questions or requests, contact Neat through the support form and select Privacy or account request.
This policy describes the features currently provided. Cloud notebook sync and paid subscription billing are not currently enabled.
Information we process
- Account information: email, account ID, authentication-provider metadata such as your name/profile image, and sign-in timestamps.
- Account usage: plan, request status, model/route, timestamps, allowances and reported token/cost information.
- Installation information: an app-generated installation ID, device family, OS version, app version/build and activity timestamps.
- AI inputs: instructions, selected content and conversation context needed for the feature you request.
- Support messages: your email, topic, optional device/build information and the message you submit.
Notebook files and local history are kept on-device unless you request an operation that sends or exports their content.
Why information is used
We use information to authenticate accounts, provide requested AI features, enforce usage allowances, investigate failures, answer support requests and operate the service. Account/device reporting supports those purposes; it does not automatically back up your notebooks.
Services involved
Supabase provides authentication and server/database services. AI requests are forwarded through OpenRouter to the model provider configured for the requested route. Sign in with Apple or Google involves the provider you select.
Netlify hosts this website and processes its support form. Hosting and service providers may process technical request information such as IP addresses as part of operating and securing their services. Their processing can occur outside your country.
This website does not embed advertising pixels or optional analytics scripts. It does not require an account to read its pages. Third-party websites linked from these pages have their own policies.
Storage and retention
Local notes, chat history and generation artifacts remain on your device until removed through the app or its storage is removed. Exported copies remain wherever you saved them. Deleting a cloud account does not automatically remove exports or local device copies.
Account, usage and support information is retained as needed to provide the service, maintain security and address support or legal obligations. Processing and retention by AI providers depend on their services; this policy does not promise zero retention or a particular provider training policy.
Use the support form to request deletion or ask what information is associated with your account. We may need to verify that the request concerns your account.
Your controls
You can use local notebooks without signing in, choose whether to use AI, select the content you share, and manage device permissions in iOS Settings. Keep a backup before deleting the app. Review logs before sending them to support, because local diagnostics can include note content.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information. Send requests through Support. Do not include passwords, authentication codes or sensitive note content.
