When you write
Your notebook pages, handwriting, placed images, local chat history and saved generation/edit artifacts are stored on your device. Ordinary local writing does not send a page to an AI provider.
Exports and backups go to the destination you select. Cloud notebook sync is not currently available.
When you sign in
Supabase handles account authentication. Depending on your sign-in method, the account can include an email address, display name and provider profile image. Neat stores session credentials securely on the device to keep you signed in.
The app can report an installation identifier, device family, operating-system version, app version/build and first/last activity times. These records help with account support. They are not a list of your private notes or your precise location.
When you ask AI for help
An authenticated request goes through our Supabase service to OpenRouter and the AI provider selected for that task. Depending on the feature, it can include your instruction, selected page images, recognized text, page layout and recent chat history.
Image editing can send the full generated page and the selected-area coordinates. Changing one area may also change other generated content. Native handwriting and typed annotations remain separate in that edit flow.
Provider processing and retention depend on the service and model route. Do not send material that you are not permitted to share with those services.
What usage reporting contains
The server records account and plan information, request status, route/model, timestamps and available usage/cost metadata to manage access and investigate failures. The NeatAI account dashboard uses this metadata; its user lists do not request notebook text, prompts or generated images.
Local developer logs and saved experiment artifacts can contain source text and AI results. Review diagnostic exports before sharing them.
Your choices
Use local notes without AI, choose what page context to include, and keep your own backups. Earlier chat messages may still contain previously shared context. To ask about account information or request deletion, use the support form.
